This reasonably compact (non-real-life) 8-way highway intersection uses two roundabouts which run in opposite directions, the outer one clockwise and the inner one counter-clockwise. There are also built-in shortcuts for traffic going straight-ahead as well as turning onto the first highway to the right. The main idea behind this interchange is that vehicles taking a highway to the right will favor the inner roundabout, while vehicles taking a highway to the left will favor the outer roundabout. The traffic can run pretty well (using TM:PE) and the interchange is reasonably compact for an 8-way intersection (it fits into the standard 64×64 square intersection size). The precursor for this intersection is my Reverse Roundabout Intersection (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4BSQMqKnKA) which is an intersection that uses a single roundabout that goes in the opposite direction to normal (clockwise for right-hand drive traffic).
Note: This intersection pretty much requires the use of the TM:PE mod (It won’t handle much traffic without it), mostly, in order to cut down traffic weaving, but also, it can be very useful to fine-tune the balance of traffic volumes on both roundabouts. If one roundabout is getting under-utilised compared to the other, then by increasing the speed limit on in (or by decreasing the speed limit on the other one), more vehicles will tend to use it, reducing the strain on the other. This intersection also requires a pretty flat and empty landscape to place it on a map. Finally, you might notice that I’m not using standard roundabout rules for getting on and off the roundabout, to improve lane usage I let traffic onto the roundabout without restriction and traffic leaves the roundabout from the middle lane, not very realistic I know, but it does seem to improve general traffic flow.
As a Cities:Skylines asset I’ve added it to the Steam Workshop (links below) so anybody can download, modify and use it. For this intersection, I made two different versions, one that uses 2-lanes highways from the Mass-Transit DLC (or the Network Extensions 2 mod), and one that uses just the standard roads.

Furthermore, any resemblance of this intersection to actual intersections is purely coincidental (and highly unlikely).
DLC: Mass Transit DLC is optional.
