Sydney Terrace – Glenmore Road
Here’s an Australian 2 storey Victorian Terrace house. I have named this series of terraces “Glenmore” after Glenmore Road in Paddington Sydney. This particular style would be found on a typical street in inner Sydney.
These models include S, A, N, C and I maps and custom lod files. They are designed to fit in with other Victorian Terrace models such as UK Victorian Terraced, UK Housing, Victorian Terrace and Seaside Terraces. They work well when used with small shops and pubs to create inner suburbs.
You will need to use mods such as Move-It to position the building and line them up.
I’ve tried to keep the size as small as possible which was a marathon sport when you try to include fancy architectural features such as the iron lace and fancy façade.
I’ve wanted to create these for a long time but struggled because it is difficult to capture the essence and feel of them. They are a simple plain box structure with 2 up and 2 down. You have to capture it on the fancy work that is applied to the façade such as urns, decorative iron lace, balconies, chimney’s and dare I say, the grit and dirt from 150 years of living. The brokenness, charm, old windows and doors that differ with every house. You can’t simply repeat them in the game as they do not look authentic.
Iron was used everywhere, iron lace balconies, corregated iron roofs, iron fences and door knobs etc. Iron is very heavy and it bowed the bearers and joist timbers on the balcony of some of the homes eventually. Iron also rusts. Every house has a different roof and slight differences in the balcony lace. If the lace is new it is probably made from aluminium and much lighter now.
