So…the last blog post was months ago, literally last year. We were full of it, ready to get GameModing.com flying again. However, after our initial run of content gathering – the task of restoring GameModing.com quickly revealed itself as a much grander effort than expected.
Since November when the initial ETS2 mods were added, you might have noticed that not much else happened and in fact, those mods are now gone! And, with good reason. We weren’t confident that all the files were available and the content had massive issues with encoding that had been used and a tonne of foreign characters and inconsistent completeness. Some posts were a right mess and so a new approach was required.
And that approach is now nearing completion. As you’ll see, Farming Simulator 2017 now constitutes the mod library on GameModing.com. We have developed, with the assistance of a 3rd party platform to get the content, an importer for WordPress which means we can take a great big files of content and links and create the posts in WordPress so you can read, see and download mods.
Further to that, we’ve taken the decision to host all our files on Amazon so you won’t be subjected to 3rd party file sharing platforms which inundate you with adverts and, if the internet is to be believed, expose you to adware, viruses and other malicious malware.
To date, we’ve got you a few years worth of Farming Sim 2017 mods from around the internet. In the not too distant future, we will have the near 10,000 Euro Truck Simulator 2 mods back online.
Step after that is to make sure we’re bringing fresh new content on a daily basis and adding titles beyond Euro Truck Sim 2 and Farming Sim 2017. We’re looking at adding Civilization VI and Transport Fever next as they’re both very popular.
Then, we’ll be looking at site design and features for you, the user. Our dream is to build a modding community and offer mod authors the opportunity to profit from their creations. As we can all appreciate, some of the mods we love and use everyday take days to author. As such, we feel that authors should be given the opportunity to earn some money for their efforts but…more on that later.
Stay tuned folks, GM.com will be rocking and rolling soon!
